Marlene is a born storyteller and problem-solver who has seldom met a person or idea she didn’t like. She spent over 25 years as a journalist at a daily newspaper, and then turned her interest and passion into helping independent schools successfully promote a product their customers could get for free. She is energized by inviting others into supporting a good cause.

She has a co-op undergraduate degree in English literature and Business from the University of Waterloo (1986) and a Master of Communications Management from McMaster University (2019).

Marlene is the features editor of a small Canadian print monthly, a freelance writer, and a founding member of a community group that supports planet health and biodiversity. She volunteers at several social justice organizations, including her church.

She lives in the Niagara Region in a century home (with crooked doors and sloping floors) and gardens, cycles, hikes, paddles and camps – as often and with as many family and friends as possible.
